About the Prostration Multiplication Mantra

This is called "The Prostration Mantra", consists of the names of the three Buddhas whom are known to multiply the merit of prostration. The merit of prostration preceded by this mantra is multiply to a million times.

When we do any prostration practice, including Ngondro, always start your practice by reciting this mantra for 3 or 5 times, then only start prostrating while chanting the prostration verses according to the respective Ngondro text.

Similarly, when you are prostrating to the master, Buddha, mandala or your own shrine, it's essential to chant this mantra while you are prostrating. However, if you are prostrating for more than 3 times, says 7 or 21 times, and you do not know of any other mantras, then you can first chant this prostration multiplying mantra for 3 times, follow for the below verses:

NAMO GURU BEH

NAMO BUDDHA YA

NAMO DHARMA YA

NAMO SANGHA YA

OR

Lama La Kyabsum Chi-O

Sanggye La Kyabsum Chi-O

Choe La Kyabsum Chi-O

Gedun La Kyabsum Chi-O

The above four lines of both prayers simply mean:

I take refuge in the Guru,

I take refuge in the Buddha,

I take refuge in the Dharma,

I take refuge in the Sangha.

This is another skillful means of Vajrayana in aiding the practitioner to gather enormous merits in the shortest time.
