Parinirvana of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (28th Sept, 2018)

Being one of Choegon Rinpoche's root gurus, to commemorate the passing of the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Dechen Choekhor Mahavihara will be conducting a special Guru Offering Puja (Lama Chodpa) on his parinirvana anniversary every year.

The above images include the late Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche's classical photo, statue, Kudung Chorten (memorial stupa) at Kyichu Lhakhang near Paro. Kyichu temple is one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples; believed to have been built in the 7th century by the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo.

His Holiness entered into parinirvana on the 19th day of the 8th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar in year 1991 (27th September, 1991). He was universally recognized as one of the greatest Vajrayana masters, an eminent scholar and poet, as well as an inspiring teacher. He spent more than 20 years in retreat; composed and compiled over 25 volumes on Buddhist philosophy and practice; saved and published countless sacred texts, and initiated numerous projects to preserve and disseminate the Tibetan Buddhism tradition, culture and teachings. His accomplishments and contributions in various fields seem more than enough to have filled an entire lifetime.
